Our Chef: From Military to Michelin Star
Ryan Klink first felt a calling towards culinary pursuits in 2002 after serving as an infantryman in the United States Army.
After studying at the Culinary Academy in San Francisco, Ryan refined his version of fine dining at the Peninsula Hotel’s esteemed ‘Avenues’ Restaurant with 20-course tasting menus as he cooked for countless celebrities, including President Obama.
Ryan and his wife, Lindsey, deciding they needed a change of pace, took off to Europe where they visited famed farmers markets, experimented with exotic foods, and worked on Italian organic farms.
Upon returning to Chicago, Ryan sharpened his culinary tools working under famed chef and restauranteur Graham Elliot at his namesake Michelin Star restaurant.
A Golden State Vision is Born
Ryan and Lindsey soon moved to Michigan to be closer to her family, as their own family grew.
Ryan began catering private parties but felt a stronger calling to make simple, healthy, delicious ready-to-eat foods available to on-the-go Metro-Detroiters.
And with that, the vision for Golden State Chef Co. was born and in 2014 the company was founded.
